Privacy Policy — Video Background Changer

1. Introduction & Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Code Knitters LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, discloses, stores and protects personal data when you use Video Background Changer (the “Service”). It applies globally and includes protections required by GDPR/UK GDPR, CCPA, COPPA and other applicable laws.

3. What We Collect & Why

  • Account & contact info (name, email, username) — Purpose: account creation, authentication, support. Legal basis: contract performance / legitimate interest.
  • Uploaded Content (videos, images, audio, metadata) — Purpose: to process background removal/replacement and return outputs. Legal basis: contract performance and your consent when uploading. We do NOT use your uploaded videos to train our AI models unless we obtain your explicit, documented consent.
  • Payment & purchase metadata — Purpose: billing and support. Payment transactions are processed by third-party payment processors or app stores; we receive confirmation metadata (order ID, purchase date) to verify purchases and support users.
  • Usage data & logs (IP, device, browser, timestamps, processing logs) — Purpose: operations, security, fraud detection, troubleshooting. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
  • Cookies & tracking identifiers — Purpose: authentication, analytics, performance, marketing. See Cookies section.
  • Support communications — Purpose: customer service, issue resolution. We may retain chat/email transcripts for quality and training support staff (not for model training unless stated).
  • Children’s data — We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. See COPPA section.

4. How We Share & Who We Share With

We share personal data only as necessary with: infrastructure & cloud providers, storage and backup providers, analytics services, payment processors, ad networks, and professional advisors. We put appropriate contracts in place (Data Processing Agreements) and limit third-party use to what’s necessary. Payment processors and app stores will process payments and may have their own privacy practices.

We will disclose personal data to comply with law, court orders, or valid government requests, and to prevent harm or fraud. We cooperate with rights holders (e.g., DMCA) and law enforcement as required.

5. Retention & Deletion

  • Uploaded videos & processing files: By default we delete uploaded videos and temporary processing files from active servers within 24 hours of processing. We may retain minimal metadata or logs for troubleshooting, fraud detection, billing disputes, or legal obligations.
  • Processed outputs: Stored per your account settings until you delete them. When you delete outputs we remove them from active storage and from backups within a reasonable timeframe (backups may be purged within up to 30 days).
  • Account & transactional records: Retained for up to 12 months or longer if required for tax, accounting or legal obligations.

6. Your Rights (EU/UK GDPR & CCPA Summary)

  • EU/UK residents: You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability and to object. To exercise rights contact info@codeknitters.co. We will verify identity and respond within legal timeframes.
  • California residents (CCPA): You have rights to know what categories of personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of certain sharing/sales. We do not “sell” personal data as defined under CCPA; however advertising/exchange of identifiers may occur with ad networks — see Cookies & Ads section.   • We may require reasonable proof of identity to respond to requests and may limit or refuse requests as permitted by law. Response times follow statutory periods (typically one month).

7. International Transfers

We operate globally. Personal data may be transferred to jurisdictions outside your country (including Pakistan, US, EU, UK). For transfers from the EU/UK we rely on appropriate safeguards (standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions or other lawful mechanisms) or legal bases. Third-party processors’ transfer practices are governed by their own policies.

8. Cookies, Ads & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for session management, analytics, performance and advertising. You can manage cookie settings via your browser or our cookie preferences UI (where available). Third-party ad networks (in mobile apps or web) may collect identifiers; their privacy practices are separate. If you wish to opt out of targeted ads, follow platform controls (Google, Apple ad settings) and web privacy tools.

9. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical and organizational measures (encryption in transit, access controls, least privilege, monitoring) to protect data. No system is perfectly secure; in case of a breach we will follow applicable legal notification obligations.

10. COPPA & Minors

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian believes we have inadvertently stored data for a child under 13, contact info@codeknitters.co and we will promptly delete it.

11. DSA & Notice & Takedown Procedures

To report illegal content or to submit a notice under applicable intermediary liability frameworks (e.g., DSA), send a detailed notice to info@codeknitters.co including URLs, screenshots and a description. We will acknowledge and investigate and keep records in line with transparency obligations.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the revised policy with the updated effective date and, where required by law, notify users directly.
